MIPSR1 routers are extremely old; think of historic ones like the Linksys WRT54GL. Newer routers are all MIPSR2. You should start your search by looking for a separate build for your router model. If you cannot find one, select a generic build in the K26 folder, doing an informed think as to whether it ought to be MIPSR2 or MIPSR1.

By an informed guess After all that you should try to establish the initial launch time of your router model. Was it launched before (approximately) 2010 or so? It might be MIPSR1 Then. Then it’s probably MIPSR2. Because some routers have hardly any NVRAM storage, the safest choice will be the Mini builds (with the term Mini in their name).

They should require a minimal amount of NVRAM space. That is only relevant for the generic builds in the subfolder K26; the dedicated builds will often have just one flavor that ought to fit in the NVRAM in every case. No Broadcom, no dice: try DD-WRT instead. 3. Please, usually do not skip any of these steps: they are very important and can prevent a great deal of headaches later on!
